If you have a tough rock job, we know Atlantic’s rock augers will give you a better chance at augering than any other brand. The lean, skew and attack angle of the “plumb-bob” style tungsten-carbine teeth, have been tested to provide a method for cutting harder rock than you might normally expect. SFSC – Single Flight-Single Cut Steel flighting in ½ “ to1½“ plate thickness, and solid steel stem from 3” to 8” diameter are provided as standard materials. Even the outer edge of the first flight is “hard faced” for longer life. DFDC – Double Flight-Double Cut Same as SFSC except has double flight configuration and double start cutting head, which provides a balanced entry. Texas Style - Atlantic can provide the flat cutter teeth and blocks in a rock auger for drilling in soft to medium rock. This auger, favored by drillers in the Southwest United States, does an exceptional job in softer rock and caliche. The unique angles and width of the cutters will allow faster production in soft rock than the DFDC style in many cases. Boulder Rooters - When working in glacial tills, the foundation contractor may require tools to remove boulders. The boulder rooter auger is designed with a decreasing diameter of flighting from top to bottom. It is a single flight auger with a pitch of 18” up to 30” between flights which may allow the auger to hook onto the boulder enough to bring it out of the hole. The auger has point attack teeth or interchangeable flat cutter rock teeth welded to the outer diameter of the flighting edge to help grab the rock. Combination Augers - A DFDC style rock auger with capability of putting earth teeth and pockets for a good earth auger. If you remove the steel earth teeth and stinger and replace them with tungsten-carbide tipped teeth and stinger, you then have a good auger for light rock jobs. Why take 2 augers to a job when 1 auger might do! |
